How to book your test 

Before you book:

  • Check that you’ve chosen the right type of test for you. 
  • Make sure you have a valid ID – a passport or national identity card from an EU country. (For Israel only Passport is accepted.) You’ll need to bring this with you on test day.

Under 18 years of age?


Your parent or guardian will need to register you for a test place if you are under 18. We don’t recommend taking IELTS if you are under 16.

The online booking process

Step 1 – Register online

  • Fill in the online form entering your details as they show in your ID (including your middle names if applicable)
  • We’ll then send a link for free access to the Road to IELTS Last Minute online preparation course.
  • Register here

Step 2 – Pay the test fee

You can pay the test fee online here:

Step 3 – Confirmation

  • Up to a week after you’ve registered and paid, we’ll send you an email confirming your test dates
  • In our centres, your Speaking test will be scheduled on the same day as the other sections
  • Around a week before your test date, we’ll send you an email with details of the time and exact location of your Speaking test

Need to cancel or move the date of your test? 

Temporary Covid-19 policy: 

If you need to change the date of your test from the date you originally booked due to Covid-19 self-isolation, you must notify the test centre as soon as possible and we will transfer your test to a different date, free of charge. Contact us here for UK ielts@ihlondon.com / Israel shalom@ihtrust.org  

If you cancel your test up 24h before your test day, you’ll receive a refund minus an administrative charge (25% of the test fee). If you request a cancellation within 14 days from your payment, up to 24h before your test, you will receive a full refund.  

If you cancel less than 24h, there is no refund available.

Special assistance

If you have learning, hearing or visual difficulties, medical conditions you can ask for special assistance. Speak to your local centre for details.

To take a modified version of IELTS – for example, Braille – you’ll need to give us at least three months’ notice.

If you’re entitled for special arrangements to be made – for example, extra time – you’ll need to give us six weeks’ notice.
