An evening course focused on speaking and writing nurses need for the OET exam

This online course will provide tips, strategies, and techniques for improving your OET result. IH London is a Premium Provider for OET courses, and our trainers are highly trained and qualified.  This online course is taught by IH London’s medical English trainers, all of whom are experienced in medical English training.  All our OET trainers have taken the OET Premium Preparation Programme.

During this online course you will study a wide range of medical language, with a specific focus on communicating effectively with patients and their families.  You will work on exam strategies specifically tailored to your needs and your profession.

Our trainers will analyse your speaking based on the OET Speaking Assessment Criteria and give feedback on, clarity, fluency, choice of words, grammatical accuracy, professional approach, information gathering and sharing, and level of engagement. 

Your writing will be assessed by one of our OET specialists, who will mark it and give you detailed feedback on Key content, being concise and genre and style. Our trainers will then look at your errors and tell you what you need to change, so you can improve your Speaking and Writing grade in the OET test.

Who is this course for?

Students who have already taken or are studying for the OET for Nursing exam and need to achieve a higher-Grade score in Speaking and Writing.  This course is also suitable for students who have never taken the OET test before and would like to improve their chances at getting their desired grade.

Course outline

This course will give you the essential tools to understand how you can improve your speaking and writing score for the OET exam.

You will be placed in a group of students who have a similar level to you, so you can benefit from common areas of experience and expertise.

Our experienced OET trainer will use a range of published material as well as your own material to highlight and develop key language areas that will help increase your knowledge and chance of success in the exam.

About the Occupational English Test (OET)

The Occupational English Test (OET) is a test of English for healthcare professionals. The OET is used in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore among others to assess the Medical English skills of a wide range of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses and midwives. 

Healthcare professionals require a grade B in the OET to work in the UK. Grade B is an advanced level of English, equivalent to IELTS band 7 and C1 in the Common European Framework (CEF).

IH London is an accredited exam centre for OET, so you can follow the course and take the OET exam in the same place.
