Our story
Our story began in 1953, with our founders John Haycraft (CBE) and his wife Brita Haycraft who started a school because they believed in international communication and building communities across cultures.

Online General English evening classes are ideal if you work during the day, or for students looking to take extra English classes in the evening from the comfort of their own home!
Our online General English evening course covers core English language skills. It is highly interactive with an emphasis on improving your fluency and building confidence when speaking English.
Evening English classes tailored to you
Before English classes begin, you’ll be asked to take a short test. This will allow your teacher to assess your language ability and ensure that you are placed in a class that provides the correct English language level for you.
Our highly experienced online teachers are not restricted by following course books. Instead they use their experience and knowledge to create personalised courses which specifically address the needs and levels of the students in the class and draw on a range of fun and interactive digital tools. Students can also access class material through our free online platform that supports the live lessons.

Online Evening English courses at International House London, are highly interactive, fun and inclusive. You will meet new people and make new friends in your live class and in our regular online meet-ups that we organise for all online evening students.

To get the most from this course you will need:
- A reliable internet connection
- A desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone
- A web camera on or attached to the device you are using
- An integrated microphone in the device you are using or an attached headset.
- You will be sent all the details you need to connect to the IH London virtual classroom.
